Before & After Pics

The first part of this weight loss journey is coming to an end in a few short months. I can’t believe how fast the year has gone. I am down almost 40lbs. I have taken up scuba again and have truly enjoyed how this year has turned out. I am a new person with a new body. My journey is going to continue even after the Fresh Diet. It has been an incredible year. Starting new things, taking care of myself both physically and mentally. When you gain weight (at least for me) even though I didn’t let it stop me from enjoying my life, but it definitely changed how and what I did. I do things now with more excitement and fulfillment. The Fresh Diet has given me, not only incredible food for the last year, but has also given me my health. My cholesterol has gone down. I have gone down two pants sizes and have gained energy and excitement. Here’s to the next 3 month, the Fresh Diet and the continuation of the new me.

Hi There,

So many things have changed for me since my last blog entry. The holidays were a great time with friends and family. It tends to be a very hard time for most people, including me, to stay on track. There are so many distractions and temptations but with The Fresh Diet I was able to stay focused. Trust me on the actually holiday I had things that I have always enjoyed but I only did it for one meal. I was able to survive the holidays and actually loose 2 more pounds. Who usually does that? Nobody I know including myself but The Fresh Diet definitely helped. I was also focused because I had something to look forward too.

In January I went on an amazing scuba vacation to Bonaire. When you hear scuba vacation what is the first thing you think of? Well for me, it was the thought of having to be in a bathing suit and even worse a wet suit for an entire week. But with the journey I have been on since May 22 of last year I have lost over 35 lbs. so getting into my bathing suit and wetsuit wasn’t so bad. I told you over the summer that I am learning to do things for myself…things that will make me happy. And I have rediscovered scuba diving. It is amazing! It takes all the things you have going on in you life and makes it disappear even if it is only for 30-40 minutes at a time. Those are the most incredible 30-40 minutes anyone can ever experience. You are anywhere from 20-100 feet below the ocean waters. It is a wonderland and a euphoric feeling being one with the ocean life. Looking around and seeing nature’s most amazing creatures swimming around you as if you are a part of them. I would look around me in amazement when schools of hundreds, if not thousands, of multicolored fish are swimming past me and around me. It was incredible. The one thing I did realize was that scuba is not an easy sport. Once you are in the water it is awesome but getting in can be hard especially if you are doing shore dives. The equipment is anywhere from 35-50 pounds including tanks and other equipment. It made me realize what weight I was carrying around on a daily basis. And wow how did I do it. But the thing I do know is that I will never get back to that weight.

I LOVE the way I feel and I look forward to continuing this journey not just for the next 5 months but also the rest of my life. And my next dive trip in March!!!

Until next time…be happy and enjoy all that life has to offer!

It has been 5 very long months.  When I say long, I teach at a massage school and my class schedule has increased significantly, which I love and wouldn’t change it for anything.  Also my mom has been in and out of the hospital.  With that said, I have not had much sleep.  What I found was that when I don’t get enough sleep not only does my energy decrease, but my cravings increase. I am craving all the bad things like chocolate, ice cream and anything else that is not good for you.  Up until this point I have been really good not to sway off The Fresh Diet.  I have eaten out and splurged here and there, but it is worse when I don’t get enough sleep.  I also feel that my metabolism slows down.  My weight loss is not as steady, but I have been pushing myself to work out. I am taking a bootfit class, which is run by two built men yelling at me to run, jump, situp, pushup.  It is not easy.  I have continued to lose weight.  I am down a total of 23 pounds and with this new work out regimen my body has been transformed. Things are lifting and shifting throughout my body.   I even had an amazing compliment yesterday. My mom looked at me and said is that a new outfit.  It looks really nice.  I said no.  I have had these pants and sweater for at least 5 years and they finally fit again.  I went through my closet and all the way in the back I found 4 pairs of pants that have not fit me in years and they now fit. A few pairs are actually a little big.  Yeah!  I am also having fun sorting through my winter clothes because many of my sweaters are way too big and I am having fun freecycling them to people who need them.

My goal for the next month is to focus on getting more sleep and continue to stick to The Fresh Diet.  I plan on losing another 12 pounds before I go on my big scuba diving adventure in January.

Enjoy the fall weather and stay healthy. Until next time…

It has been 4 months and I still have over 200 days left on this incredible journey.  I am currently down 24 pounds.  I am off from teaching the next two weeks and I am kicking my exercise up.  I have had some time off of The Fresh Diet for a couple of days here and there.  All for good reason. Spending time with friends and family.  The good thing is that I have not gained any of the weight back and even lost a pound.  That is what makes this life style change an amazing adventure.  I have found it has changed how I look at food.  I mean, I love food like Eggplant Parmesan, pasta and other rich foods but what I have found is being on The Fresh Diet has helped me with portions.  I now can eat only half of what I used too.  I would get a dish in front of me and not stop until the entire plate was empty,  but not any more.
I love the new image, the new body I am getting . It is a work in progress, like anything else, and the energy that I have from years ago. Well I am off now because my workout DVD is waiting for me.  It is so easy to get distracted from your workouts. Life is busy and tends to take over. But with all change comes commitment.

Everyone enjoy the fall, get out and enjoy not only the change within you but also the change of the leaves.  It is a wonderful time to enjoy the outside doing fun things!

Donna's doing great on The Fresh Diet.

Look! Up in the sky! It’s a bird! It’s a plane! it’s TheFreshDietGirl. Even though it sounds like a comic book super hero, TheFreshDietGirl is actually Donna Manley (winner of our Diet with Glenn Douglas Packard contest).  As we told you before, Donna is blogging about her experiences with The Fresh Diet. After just 4 weeks, Donna has become “the incredible shrinking woman.” (Now, this really sounds like a superhero story.) If you are looking for support on your own journey to a healthier lifestyle, be sure to check out Donna’s amazing photos.
