It’s too bad that Carnie Wilson couldn’t hold on for one more day! In case you missed it, Star magazine recently printed an article about our former spokesperson. Sadly, Carnie was indeed dropped by TFD for eating cheesecake. But, the tabloid writer did get one thing wrong. On The Fresh Diet, you really CAN have your cheesecake and eat it, too! Just be sure to stick to the kind prepared by Chef Yos. You won’t feel deprived when you eat our fresh, gourmet meals, but you do have to stick to the 3 meals and 2 snacks we deliver in your Fresh Diet cooler bag. Incidentally, to all of her fans out there, we are genuinely sorry things didn’t work out with Carnie, and we wish her the best!
Here’s the text of the article pictured above from Star magazine:
She thought she could have her cheesecake and eat it too! Carnie Wilson was let go as spokesperson for food-delivery service The Fresh Diet on Nov. 10 after losing only 19 lbs. on the program – and then gaining it all back (plus some) after she launched her own cheesecake company.
“Carnie was promoting her cheesecakes while she was supposed to be only eating our three meals and two snacks a day,” The Fresh Diet publicist Ezzy Duchman tells Star of the 230-lb. Wilson-Phillips singer, who went from 300 lbs. to 150 lbs. agter gastric bypass surgery in 1999. Although Carnie’s rep tells Star she parted ways with The Fresh Diet because her contract was up, Ezzy says, “We had to take her off the corporate website because she has not been a successful case. She didn’t stick to it and she didn’t lose weight. We had to cut ties with her.”
After going on The Dr. Oz Show in January and admitting, “I need help,” with her weight, mom of two Carnie, 42, signed on with The Fresh Diet the next month. Every day, their calorie-controlled meals – made up of 40 percent carbs, 30 percent fats and 30 percent protein – were dropped off on her doorstep. And although she lost 19 lbs. by June, when she hit the red carpet for the Daytime Entertainment Emmy Awards, Fresh Diet CEO Zalmi Duchman says that soon afterward, Carnie began cheating on her diet.
“It seemed that she was eating more food than just our meals,” he tells Star. “We always saw her baking on her reality show (GSN’s Carnie Wilson: Unstapled). We believe she wasn’t sticking to the plan and she wasn’t losing weight. If you’re baking cheesecake and selling it, then you can’t promote a diet company. – Debbie Emery
